Simple Life

It is amazing to me how spiritual simple living can be. I was at The Earth Warriors Festival this weekend. I lived in a tent and ate out of a cooler. I met great people and felt more in touch with who I am than I have for a long time.

This led me to wonder about some things. Could it be that the reason people in the past seemed to be so much more in touch with their spirituality and their Gods was because of the lives they lived? I think this is definitely part of the case. They did not have the strange stresses that plague us these days.

None of this means that I want to run off and live in the woods. I know myself well enough to know that I would fail. The people in the past did it well because they had real communities. That was another part of the magic of this festival. I felt more a part of the people around me than I ever have. A bunch of people came together and made a community for a weekend. We talked together, we drank together, we danced together. We were all part of the same organic group. We were tribe and family.

This festival has shown me so much of how we are supposed to live. Now if only there was a way to bring this knowledge into this regular life that so many of us live. I'm not sure the two of them are truly compatible. At least not without major changes to the "real life" so many of us must live now.
